So. I’m kind of an otaku for Korean and Japanese dramas. I particularly love ones that are based on those anime that centre around high schools, pop idols and cooking. Besides the many things that I have gleaned from watching hours of K and J dramas, one commonality that can run between the two different veins of drama is Jeju Island.
Jeju Island is a glamorous and romantic getaway located off the coast of South Korea. It’s for honeymooners. For chaebols and keiretsu (mega rich Korean and Japanese conglomerate owning families, respectively) who need to go into hiding when some shit or another hits the fan. For secret rendezvous with forbidden lovers. An excuse for a change of landscape.
Jeju Island is home to an erotic sculpture park named, er, Jeju Love Island, which hosts over 140 sex-themed sculptures. It’s also where The Museum of Sex and Health is located. If any of you are on the hunt for sexy time destinations with a twist, look no further.
